The 2012 US Championship ended recently with victory for the favourite. St Louis is proving a mecca for chess with initiatives springing up in support. The venue, if the pictures are to be believed, looked superb. They played there last year and, not surprisingly, were delighted to return.
Final scores: Nakamura 8.5, Kamsky (defending champ) 7.5, Onischuk 6.5, Shulman, Lenderman & Akobian all 6, Robson 5.5, Hess, Kaidanov & Ramirez both 4, Stripunsky & Seirawan (Yasser, really!) both 3.5. Shulman and Nakamura were undefeated.
