Cardiff. The Welsh Capital welcomed the Championship of Wales, 6th-9th April. 1st= TJ Kett, RS Jones both 5.5/7; 3rd= SP Zeidler & T Brown 5.

Great Yarmouth. 28th-29th April. Open 1st RJD Tozer 4/5; 2nd= E Matthewson, L Hill, TPD Chapman, DJ Spence & RJ Ilett all 3.5 … 28 players competed, including Robert Bellin, who withdrew on 2.5/3. U165 1st KR Shaw 4.5/5 … 25 competed. U130 1st AD Bell 4.5/5; 2nd ZP Vane 4 … 24 ran.

Huddersfield Rapidplay, 29th April, drew 72 players to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the local club in 1852.
Mark Hebden took the £1,000 prize with six straight wins.
Grading prizes were awarded to: A Longson, M Gruca, D Keddie, D Firth, DJ Tooley, T Hilton, K Winter, D Boulden, G Clarke, D Hubbert, S Firth & V Orlic. Under 20 age prizes went to Mitchell Burke and Steve Jones.

London Team Rapidplay. 28th April. The hosts took the Silver medal: the favourites, Gold. Eight teams entered, the front runners being: 1st Barbican (JJ Cox, DA Sands, PP Taylor, Natasha Regan, Kanwal Bhatia & LJ Barron) 14/14; 2nd Imperial College 10; 3rd Athenaeum 8.

Ninety-one played in the Golders Green Rapidplay on 12th May. Open: 1st= A Cherniaev (RUS) & PJ Sowray both 5/6. U170: 1st I Segura 5.5/6. U145: 1st C Nettleton 5/6. U120 1st W Thorpe 5.5/6. D Everitt, Faye Ainscow & J Kelly were amongst those collecting grading prizes.
