The 2012 European Champion is Dmitry Jakovenko. The Russian Grandmaster registered a 2832 performance, a massive 103 points above his Elo rating. He is twenty-eight and finished outright first in a field of 344 players, mostly professionals. England’s Gawain Jones, having led in the early rounds, finished 15th= with a creditable 7.5/11. Other English scores were: DWL Howell 7, AC Hunt 5 & AJ Ledger 4.5.

A full report will appear in our April magazine (and all of these words on Facebook).
