International Chess comes to the popular holiday resort of Brighton from February 15th-19th with a full-blown international event. There are also events for weaker players. The Old Ship Hotel is an excellent venue. Readers will remember that Brighton has a long chess heritage boasting players such as David Cummings, RD Keene, David Goodman, GH James, Andrew Kinsmann and Byron Jacobs, BCMs’ typesetter, and has been the scene for British Championships in 1938, 1972, 1980 and 1984.
